Amalgamated Bank is looking for a Risk & Controls Manager, focusing on IT and Operations. This role will facilitate risk management oversight and execution within Operations and IT. You will also leverage understanding of risk frameworks to assist the business line in strengthening controls and mitigating operational risk as the bank continues to grow. Essential Job Functions:
- Facilitate risk assessment completion, update, and maintain risk and controls descriptions, key risk indicators (KRIs), resolution, and tracking of audit, regulatory, and self-identified issue mitigation plans.
- Ensure controls relevant to the Line of Business (LOB), including SOX and RCSA controls, are adequate and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Conduct periodic self-testing of control design and effectiveness, providing recommendations for enhancement in alignment with the Business Head.
- Develop and maintain process workflows for all critical processes within the LOB.
- Partner with the Business Head to ensure policies and procedures are current.
- Work with Risk and Compliance teams to stay informed about relevant regulatory changes and advise the LOB lead accordingly.
- Assist in preparing management and committee materials as needed.
- Support Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery planning for the LOB.
- Lead vendor-related activities, including SLA performance and control assessments within the LOB.
- Investigate and report material risk events and determine root causes.
- Assist with new product/process rollout, advising on control adequacy.
- Act as Point of Contact for the LOB during audits and exams.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Partner with the Enterprise Risk Management team for support and guidance in risk management activities.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience in operations, preferably in a risk or control-oriented banking environment.
- Strong understanding of operational controls and risk management techniques.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret data effectively.
- Ability to assess situations, balance needs, and solve problems independently under tight deadlines, seeking guidance when necessary.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with PowerPoint, Excel, and Visio at an expert level.
The starting salary range for this role is $125,000 to $135,000, dependent on experience, skills, and market factors. This range is subject to change.

Hybrid Work Model
Effective February 18, 2025, employees in office-based roles will work a hybrid schedule of at least three days on-site per week, Monday through Thursday, with Fridays remote, unless business needs require otherwise. This model does not apply to contact center, branch, or general services roles, or positions covered by collective bargaining agreements that specify otherwise.
