Job description
The Director of Sales & Marketing-Full Service oversees the planning and management of sales and marketing for a Full Service hotel. The role aims to maximize occupancy, grow existing accounts, generate new business, and meet or exceed profit objectives. Responsibilities include managing day-to-day sales operations, developing sales forecasts, marketing plans, advertising, and budgets for one hotel. The role requires working beyond standard hours, with duties primarily administrative, executive, or professional, involving discretion and independent judgment.
Qualifications
- At least 6 years of progressive hotel sales experience preferred; or a 4-year college degree with at least 2 years of related experience; or a 2-year college degree with at least 4 years of related experience.
- Valid driver's license in the applicable state.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for negotiation, persuasion, and influence.
- Experience with professional selling skills: opening, probing, supporting, closing.
- Strong analytical skills and strategic vision for sales deployment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
- Excellent organization and presentation skills.
- Ability to interact effectively with diverse backgrounds and manage complex problems.
- Advanced knowledge of sales, marketing, and hospitality principles and practices.
- Ability to perform under stress and maintain composure.
- Understanding of financial data and basic arithmetic.
Job Responsibilities
- Coordinate sales efforts for group, transient, and catering bookings to maximize revenue.
- Develop and manage the division's budget, marketing, and sales plans to meet revenue and profit goals.
- Conduct outside sales calls, tours, and entertain clients.
- Negotiate contract terms and understand contractual content.
- Maintain market awareness to predict revenue opportunities and develop strategies.
- Monitor top accounts and market trends.
- Adhere to company sales standards, metrics, and regulations.
- Achieve individual, team, and budget goals.
- Train hotel staff to recognize and capitalize on sales opportunities.
- Manage Human Resources within the division to attract and retain staff, including hiring, training, coaching, and performance reviews.
- Supervise Catering & Event Management to meet budgets.
- Gain comprehensive knowledge of hotel operations and policies.
- Maintain visibility in the local community and industry organizations.
- Participate in meetings and training sessions as required.
- Promote communication and collaboration with marketing partners and internal departments.
- Travel weekly as needed.
- Act on behalf of the General Manager in their absence and perform other duties as assigned.
- Handle access to sensitive areas and information responsibly.
- Interact with guests and colleagues professionally.
- Drive safely for business purposes.
