Position: Senior Auditor
Location: Hybrid, Washington, DC
Salary Range: $75,000 – $90,000
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage audit engagements for nonprofit clients, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and auditing/accounting standards.
- Develop and execute audit plans, including risk assessment, testing procedures, and reporting.
- Evaluate internal controls and identify areas for improvement in financial and operational processes.
- Prepare financial statements and/or conduct detailed reviews of financial statements, supporting documentation, and accounting records to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Provide guidance and support to junior team members, including reviewing their work and providing constructive feedback.
- Communicate audit findings and recommendations effectively to clients, including presenting complex financial information in a clear and understandable manner.
- Collaborate with clients to address audit issues, resolve discrepancies, and implement best practices.
- Regularly communicate audit progress, status updates, and significant findings with the audit manager or partner.
- Stay abreast of developments in accounting regulations and nonprofit industry trends to ensure audit methodologies remain current and effective.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through professionalism, responsiveness, and reliability.
- Participate in firm-wide initiatives, such as training programs and quality assurance reviews, to enhance professional development and uphold audit quality standards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA certification or completion of one or more sections of the CPA exam.
- 3 to 6 years of auditing experience, ideally within nonprofit accounting.
- Profound comprehension of auditing principles and standards.
- Proficiency in the MS Office Suite.
- Familiarity with Caseware Working Papers or CCH ProSystems fx Engagement is a plus.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
