ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Establish project objectives, specify strategies and actions to achieve them, and ensure deliverables outlined in the scope are met.
- Facilitate and participate in client and internal meetings; interface with clients throughout each project to manage relationships and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Coordinate document submissions to the building department and oversee on-site construction administration (RFIs, RFPs, shop drawings, submittals, etc.).
- Lead, direct, and coordinate team members and consultants from project inception through completion.
- Manage the project team by assigning staff, mentoring, and making authoritative decisions impacting the project.
- Participate in reviews with governing agencies to ensure code compliance.
- Conduct design development and contract document work sessions at the project site with the Principal or Project Manager and other disciplines.
- Coordinate workload during design development and construction document phases to meet schedules.
- Review architectural documents for conflicts with other disciplines.
- Write and edit architectural specifications, working directly with owners and legal staff to define legal parameters of the construction contract.
- Prepare and review construction documents for accuracy, coordinating with internal teams and external consultants.
- Lead field survey teams as needed for current condition documentation.
- Apply knowledge of lighting, HVAC, structural, plumbing, fire protection, electrical design, and relevant codes (IBC, CBC, ADA, Title 24, BOMA).
- Coordinate with disciplines on addenda, RFIs, change orders, and incorporate changes into documents.
- Monitor project schedules, design fees, budgets, and reimbursables, adhering to agreed pricing strategies.
- Foster a collaborative and positive working environment, encouraging learning and professional growth.
- Maintain, organize, and archive project files during and after projects.
- Perform administrative functions including project and team management using tools like DelTek, monitoring time and budget, and advising leadership.
- Assist with additional duties such as site visits, record drawings, and code research.
- Uphold MVE & Partners standards of performance and policies at all times.
- Participate in generating proposals, RFPs, charrettes, design competitions, and other business development activities.
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Degree in Architecture from an accredited institution or equivalent experience.
- Licensed Architect in California.
- NCARB Certification.
- 15+ years of experience in a professional office setting with broad project experience.
- Proficient in CADD, Revit, SketchUp, Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Microsoft Office.
- Strong communication, time management, and organizational skills.
- Excellent reading comprehension for understanding work-related documents.
- Skills in applying industry standards and graphic conventions for document organization and presentation.
- Ability to identify complex problems and develop effective solutions.
