Architect, develop, and operate Java micro-services that deliver messages to hundreds of millions of daily active users through multiple channels. Build and maintain batch and real-time data pipelines in Scala using Scio and the Google Cloud Platform, that extract, transform, and store user behavior and system events data, making it available for other teams and systems to consume. Write and review high quality code in several programming languages, including Java, Scala, and Python, with a focus on quality and automated testing. Deploying, operating, monitoring, and being on-call for large scale distributed production software services serving traffic to Spotify users worldwide. Produce documentation of internal software systems, its design and intended usage. Interview candidates for Data Engineering roles, review candidate applications during hiring processes, and onboard new hires mentoring less experienced engineers to foster a healthy and inclusive team culture. *Telecommuting permitted: work may be performed anywhere within the Eastern Time Zone region of the U.S.JOB REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field and six (6) years of experience in the job offered or in a related role. Must have six (6) years of experience with: Develop backend micro-services in Java; Develop batch and real-time big data pipelines in Scala; Implement scheduling and orchestration of data pipelines in Python; Lead technical initiatives from inception to delivery managing stakeholder expectations throughout; Plan and deliver automated software testing strategies; and Design, develop, and operate large scale distributed systems in the cloud.
