Job Summary and Description:
EPRI is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Computer Science student to join our team as a Student Employee. This role is ideal for a candidate with a strong foundation in engineering and computer science, excellent communication skills, and a passion for solving real-world problems in the energy and technology sectors. The student employee will support IT operations, virtual collaboration platforms, and research initiatives across various departments.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the administration and support of virtual collaboration tools (e.g., Zoom, Teams), including event setup, troubleshooting, and user support.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather technical requirements and support research or IT-related projects.
Contribute to the development, testing, and documentation of internal tools or platforms.
Analyze and resolve usability issues on internal websites or platforms; recommend improvements.
Support data collection, analysis, and reporting for ongoing research or operational projects.
Participate in team meetings, contribute ideas, and assist with documentation and knowledge sharing.
Preferred Qualifications:
Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (expected graduation: Fall 2025).
Associate of Science in Engineering completed.
Experience with virtual event platforms, IT support, or web administration.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote or hybrid environment.
Desirable Skills:
Familiarity with scripting or programming languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript).
Experience with content management systems, Mailchimp, or basic web design.
Exposure to technical documentation, proofreading, or editing.
Interest in energy systems, sustainability, or applied research.
The hourly rate range for Student positions are:
Undergraduate: $16-29 per hour
Masters: $25-31 per hour
Ph.D: $27-34 per hour
These ranges are an estimate, and the actual hourly rate may vary based on various factors, including without limitation applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The hourly rate may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.
As an EPRI Student, you will not participate in EPRI's Benefit Programs which includes health insurance, retirement benefits, vacation, sick leave (except as set required by law) and holiday pay. However, as a Student employee you are eligible for the benefits of Social Security, State Disability Insurance, and Workers' Compensation Insurance.
For Student positions which require one to relocate to an EPRI office. Relocation assistance is not provided and the student will be responsible for covering all relocation costs/expenses.
EPRI participates in E-Verify, an online system operated jointly by the Department of Homeland Security and the Social Security Administration (SSA). EPRI uses the system to check the work status of new hires by comparing information from the employee's I-9 form against SSA and Department of Homeland Security databases.
