Job Overview: A leading law firm is seeking an experienced Tax Associate to join its national practice, which covers a wide range of federal, state, and international tax issues. The firm works with clients in technology, life sciences, and growth enterprises at various stages of development. Location:
Duties:
- Provide tax planning and advisory services in federal, state, and international tax matters.
- Advise clients on mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, and corporate finance transactions.
- Assist with equity financings, technology transfers, and complex licensing/collaboration agreements.
- Develop and implement tax planning strategies for both domestic and international tax matters.
- Collaborate with colleagues across departments to offer comprehensive legal services to clients.
- Cultivate and maintain strong client relationships.
- Draft and review various tax-related documents, agreements, and filings.
- Manage a variety of cases and responsibilities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Participate in business development, including client meetings, pitches, and presentations.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in tax law, specializing in mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, and corporate finance.
- Strong understanding of federal, state, and international tax law.
- Experience working with clients in technology, life sciences, or growth enterprises is preferred.
- Ability to excel in a fast-paced, high-pressure work environment.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.
Education:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Strong academic credentials.
Certifications:
- Active bar membership in a relevant jurisdiction.
- Additional certifications such as CPA are a plus but not required.
Skills:
- Expertise in federal, state, and international tax law.
- Experience in mergers, acquisitions, capital markets, and corporate finance transactions.
- Knowledge of technology transfers, licensing agreements, and tax planning.
