Rockstar is on the lookout for a talented Technical Writer to add to our team to work closely with our Security department.
This is a full-time, in-office position based out of Rockstar’s NYC headquarters in Downtown Manhattan.
WHAT WE DO
- We help bring clarity to the processes and systems that all Rockstars depend on. We produce a wide-range of documentation to support all tasks from booting up a console to the precise details of exporting assets for the game.
- We collaborate with Engineers, System Administrators, and Producers to help them build the documentation they rely on. We convert the expertise of all teams into easy to understand text, graphics, and video content fit for a global audience.
- We work with Security, IT, Tools, and other development teams to create innovative ways to share and automate documentation.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Creating, reviewing, and maintaining high quality technical documentation and training materials for the global Security team and Rockstar as a whole.
- Creating high quality training materials, including written and video content.
- Providing technical documentation support within Security Production, and helping others in the global Security team with their documentation needs.
- Working with the global Technical Writing team to apply documentation standards and enhancements.
- Collaborating with Security, IT, Technical Writing, Tools, and other development teams to create innovative ways to share and automate documentation.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience creating written technical documentation, tutorials, and other training material. Examples must be provided with your application.
- Graduate applications accepted when accompanied with outstanding samples of written work.
SKILLS
- Excellent documentation skills with high attention to detail.
- Experience creating training-oriented material, including both written and video content.
- Experience working with Wiki-based media.
- Impeccable English speaker with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- An ability to quickly grasp technical concepts and systems and communicate them in a clear and concise manner for the end-user.
- Strong analytical skills coupled with the ability to operate in a challenging environment with evolving project requirements and priorities.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work as part of a team or individually as required.
- Motivated self-starter, who independently takes projects from planning through to completion.
- Willingness to occasionally work flexible hours.
PLUSES
Please note that these are desirable skills and are not required to apply for the position.
- Game development experience and/or a passion for games.
- Experience with Confluence.
- Experience with Photoshop or other image and video editing software.
- Knowledge of security guidance and policy documentation formatting is advantageous.
- Knowledge of or exposure to NIST framework.

The pay range for this position in New York State (inclusive of New York City) at the start of employment is expected to be between $69,900 - $103,440 USD per year. However, base pay offered is based on market location, and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a bonus and/or equity awards, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an "at-will position" and the company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
