Role Description
This is a contract, hybrid Visual Designer role, contingent upon award, supporting an upcoming government web project. The position is based in the Washington DC–Baltimore region, with flexibility for remote work. The Visual Designer will work closely with UX and development teams to deliver clean, accessible, and responsive page layouts that align with existing brand standards. This includes designing modern templates for forms, events, and content-heavy pages in a CMS-based environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Translate wireframes and UX guidance into high-quality, branded web layouts
- Design visual elements (e.g., icons, buttons, banners) for use across the site
- Contribute to the creation of consistent design components and reusable templates
- Ensure visual design adheres to accessibility guidelines and mobile-first principles
- Deliver layered design files in formats suitable for developer handoff
Qualifications
- 2–4 years of visual or web design experience
- Proficiency with tools like Figma, Adobe XD, or Adobe Creative Suite
- Familiarity with WCAG 2.1 and accessibility-conscious design
- Experience working within CMS environments (Drupal a plus)
- Excellent attention to detail and consistency
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, or a related field preferred
